Michael Lang is producing the 50th Anniversary Woodstock Festival at Watkins Glen, Aug 16-19

You knew it had to happen. Michael Lang, the producer of Woodstock in 1969, 1994, and 1999, has confirmed there will be a Woodstock 2019.

No, it won’t be at Max Yasgur’s farm. Or in Saugerties, New York. Or in Rome, New York. The venue will be Watkins Glen, August 16-19. That race track has hosted a number of big events, including a 1973 festival that had a headcount beyond 600,000, making bigger than the original Woodstock.

No acts have been announced yet, but Lang assures everyone that about 40 performers–rock, pop, hip-hop, and a few bands still alive from previous Woodstocks–have already been locked down. There will also apparently be a bunch of tribute bands to evoke the spirit of Janis, Jimi, Joe Cocker, the Band and others.
